With the help of membership dues, donations, and visit to the center, we’ve had an impressive year. We couldn’t have done it without the support from the community!
2022 Highlights
- Prevented over 75,000 pounds of household hazardous waste (HHW) from entering landfills through our bi-monthly HHW collection events.
- Provided 106 youth education programs at libraries, scout groups, preschools and at K-12 schools. Also presented 9 adult educational programs reaching approximately 5,500 youth and adults of the County
- Had over 17,000 visitors to the Center
- Shipped out for proper disposal
- 1 million pounds of TVs
- 175,000 pounds of e-waste
- 140,000 pounds of cardboard
- 194,000 pounds of books
- 95,000 pounds of newspaper, mixed paper and white paper
- 126,000 pounds of glass
- 370,000 pounds of scrap metal
- 12,500 pounds of lead acid batteries
- 13,301 pounds of block and food grade foam (approximately 10,232 ft3 of landfill space)
- 1135 Freon appliances
- Over 10,000 tires
- 28,000 light bulbs
- 1320 gallons of used motor oil
- Partnered with the Westmoreland Conservation District to host a West Nile Virus Tire Collection
- Participated in the Unity Township and Hempfield Township Cleanup Day
- After a hiatus of a few years, set up a table display at the Westmoreland Fair
- Welcomed 3 new Board of Directors.
