Electronics Collection Temporarily Suspended as of 6/29/20
Westmoreland Cleanways Recycling Center must immediately but TEMPORARILY halt the collection of electronics (TVs of all types; computer monitors; computers and peripherals; all other electronics and small appliances). We were informed that one of the processors where our material is shipped shut down due to a suspected COVID-19 infection. This suspected positive COVID case did not occur locally. For everyone’s safety, all recommended precautions and CDC guidelines have been implemented: staff wearing masks, regular disinfecting, social distancing. However, it impacts our ability to ship material to its proper destination for recycling.
It is anticipated that the disruption will last no more than three weeks, but as we have all seen, instances of COVID-19 outbreaks are unpredictable. We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate the uncertainty along with everyone else, and extend our best to our colleagues affected by the COVID virus.
Please visit our Recycling Center Page regularly for an update on when we will resume electronics collection. In the meantime….. Let me to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the Recycling Center accepts more than just electronics. The Recycling Center will remain open during regularly scheduled hours for ALL OTHER RECYCLABLES, listed below.
Glass containers (clear, green and brown)
Cardboard, newspaper, white office paper, mixed paper
Lead acid batteries
Fluorescent light bulbs
There are no residency requirements and no limit on the amount of material that can be brought to the center. Our mission is to serve our community and to encourage recycling as much as can possibly be properly recycled.
The Recycling Center Page is updated with all the information you need: address, operating hours, acceptable material, etc. Feel free to share this information as you like.
Again, thank you all for your patience. Stay safe, and keep on recycling!
