For Preschool

FREE Environmental Education for Preschool & Pre-K Classrooms

a group of preschoolers sitting around a table observing the composting worms

Inspire your young learners with a fun, interactive environmental education experience! We provide FREE 30-minute classroom presentations designed specifically for preschool and pre-K students. Each hands-on presentation introduces age-appropriate concepts that encourage children to care for the environment.

Topics include:

I want to Be Recycled
What happens to a milk jug or cereal box after it’s recycled? Young learners will discover which everyday items belong in the recycling bin and how they can be turned into exciting new products. We’ll wrap up the fun with a lively game of Recycling Hot Potato!
Available only in communities with curbside recycling programs.

Reduce Reuse
Can trash become treasure? Students explore where garbage goes after it leaves our homes and classrooms while learning simple ways to reduce waste and reuse materials. They’ll finish by creating a one-of-a-kind classroom band with instruments made from reusable items.

Open Your Eyes to Litter
Help students become litter-prevention champions! Through a fun fishing activity, students identify what belongs in nature and what doesn’t. They will also learn why litter is harmful and practice making responsible choices during an imaginative walk through the park.

Vermicomposting (worm composting)
Meet nature’s tiny recyclers! Students will discover how worms help turn food scraps into nutrient-rich compost while observing a real worm bin and meeting its hardworking inhabitants. Classrooms interested in extending the learning can even “worm sit” the composting bin for up to one month, providing a unique, hands-on environmental experience.

Our engaging lessons help build lifelong environmental stewardship through stories, activities, and discussion. To learn more about our educational programs or to schedule a presentation, call 724-879-4020 or email our educator.
